Ok..so it is a little bit of a trek to get up there..but it is well worth the diving when you do.

Located just over the border in the land of the haggis, the bagpipe and the tartan skirts ( about 7 miles in), St Abbs is a small harbour but with a big underwater nature reserve (which incidentally was opened by David Bellamy). There are a number of boat operators sailing from there but it is also an excellent location for shore diving.

We arrived on saturday afternoon to find that the ...

Located at the end of the M62 on the way to Hull, it is situated down a cart track through the village of North Cave. it is not very well signposted at all, so when I returned there yesterday, it was all done on some sort of vague memory. The best bet is to follow small signs for Everthorpe prison..

So 8 Acres has changed hands since I was last there..and there have been a few changes on site too.

The people that run it now are a friendly bunch and are really helpful and welcoming. ...

Capernwray is situated in the North West of England at the edge of a little village called Over Kellet. It is about 2 and half hours drive from Retford. You need to get there early as there is always a queue to get in and it doesn't even open its gates until 9.00am. Parking is not really a problem there as there is plenty of room and the car park is not so far away from the water's edge that you have to catch a bus..so I guess that put's it one up on Stoney Cove.

Capernwray is probably only ...

Almost everyone who has qualified and dived in the UK has been to Stoney Cove. Almost like a rite of passage.

For the minoritywho haven't been..or for those who are just undergoing Open Water Training and need to know what is in store for them...This is what Stoney-el-Sheikh was like yesterday...

Located in a small village in Leicestershire, travel time is about an hour and a half from Retford, all relatively straightforward and easy to get to.

This place is always packed out at weekends ...

Located in North Yorkshire, it is just a short trip up the A1 from Retford and takes about 40 minutes.

Opening times are 10am - 9pm during the week and 10am - 6pm at weekends.

Entry is a modest £5 each and £5 for the car parking.

Me and Rob went up on Sat 3 May for me to just have a little dip as I haven't been in the water for over a month and only once this year anyway.

It is run by Martin and Sharon and there are the usual facilities, a cafe serving dog burgers, a small shop, ...

Sunday 13/04/08

Regardless of the sub-zero temps and wild rain storms the real divers were out again.

option.

Good canteen facilities and al a carte menu and changing room with a well stocked dive shop

for air and bits.

Normal access point but in process of building a new pontoon,

Plenty to see vis today was about 4/5 meters worth ...
